Why Improvise?

This month, Paul Sweet (on the cover) shares some new ideas on how he likes to introduce improvisation to his students in the cover story, Why Improvise? Anyone who has read this magazine for any length of time knows I love to introduce improv to my students as soon as possible. I picked up some new ideas from Paul. Perhaps you will too!

Keys on the Seas Seminar and Concerts: an Interview with Steve Lungrin

Then, if you are tired of winter and looking for something to look forward to, you will want to read the interview I have with Steve Lungrin. I was recently contacted by a former piano teacher, who is also a travel agent, about a cruise she had set up that has a piano seminar during the cruise. Curious? Read Keys on the Seas Seminar and Concerts: an Interview with Steve Lungrin for more information (spoiler alert: this cruise will be leaving from California!)

It's That Time of Year

Finally, if you are planning to hold summer camps, it is time to start thinking about the details - Where will you hold the camp? What curriculum will you use? How will you market? What ages? Mixed skills or skill specific? Hopefully you will find some ideas that will help you find the answers to some of these question in It's That Time of Year. No doubt, we are entering yet another busy time of year, so much planning to do - recitals, camps, fall registration. It is a good thing we love what we do.

Why Beginning Improvisors Should Relish Mistakes

Michael Katz shares some thoughts on the importance of making mistakes while improvising in his column Play to Learn: Let's Play! It is nice to hear I'm not the only one who has students afraid to make mistakes.
