Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue (Has Anybody Seen My Gal?) - Bradley Sowash

Stride piano for mere mortals!
In the 1920s, legendary jazz pianists such as James P. Johnson and Fats Waller built on the roots of Ragtime (an already advanced style) to evolve an exciting sound that came to be known as Stride Piano. Hallmarks of this particularly virtuosic style include huge left-hand “boom chick” leaps, chord voicings that regularly span a 10th, highly inventive improvised right-hand runs, and fast tempos.
Awe inspiring to listen to but difficult to play, Stride Piano eludes “ordinary” pianists. This new arrangement of a popular classic of the period captures the essence of Stride without overwhelming pianists with average handspans and reasonable piano technique.
